Effective strategies of social educational intervention with adolescents and young people at risk of social exclusion (2011-2012)
There are numerous investigations that have been focussed on the adolescent population at risk of social exclusion. However, there have been few directed at studying intervention, hence the importance of this project. It involves teenagers that come from diverse situations: users, with their families from social service establishments; those who come from the system and protection of minors; with judicial measures, etc. All these present a very common characteristic -the serious risk of social exclusion- which is more pronounced due to the socio-economic crisis.
The investigation team is formed by twenty professionals from three universities (UNED, A coruña and Girona), five social organisations specialising in the work with young people and adolescents in risky situations (Fundación ISOS, Opción 3, Fundació Pare Manel, Fundación Trébol and Igaxes3) and the Area of Family and Social Services of the Madrid City Council.
In two years of work, the investigation allowed the identification of a series of good practices in the intervention with these young people. The resulting publication, 'Strategies of Social Educational Intervention with Adolescents at risk of Exclusion' (UNED, 2014) collected contrasting strategies that are valued by any professional team. This constitutes a bank of useful information destined to improve the situation of adolescents at risk.
